Stuart has been part of the Electrical Trades Union, initially as a member when he began his apprenticeship with a Cairns based shipbuilder.
After completion, Stuart worked with Ergon for nearly 20 years in the Far North Torres Straits and Mainland communities of Queensland.
His career began with the ETU in 2008 when he took on the role of Organiser, followed by a move to Brisbane to fulfil the position of Power Representative in 2013. Stuart worked his way up the ranks, to be elected as Assistant Secretary in 2019.
Stuart has a passionate focus on representing the safety and wellbeing of all ETU members. “There is nothing better than to stand in front of your members when you are one of them. We are no better. We just represent their views.”
Stuart has been a long-term opponent of privatisation of essential service assets.
