Don Henry AM

Smart Energy Council

Don Henry AM serves as the Chair of the Smart Energy Council, bringing extensive experience in environmental advocacy and sustainable development to the organization. As Enterprise Professor of Environmentalism at the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Business School, he collaborates with researchers, government bodies, civil society, and global institutions to advance public debate and policy on sustainability and low-carbon economies.

Don’s distinguished career includes serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Conservation Foundation from 1998 to 2014 and working with the World Wildlife Fund in Washington, D.C. He is also an International Board member of Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project, organizing climate science and impact training workshops, particularly in Oceania.

In recognition of his significant contributions to environmental protection, Don was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2018. His leadership at the Smart Energy Council is instrumental in driving Australia’s transition towards sustainable and smart energy solutions.
