COURSE PROFILE

The course will only cover 1 topic. The topic relates to new editions of AS/NZS 5033:2021 that are critical to CEC accredited designer/ installers remaining competent in the following Units of Competency:

  • UEENEEK125A
  • UEENEEK128A
  • UEENEEK135A
  • UEENEEK148A

 

The course will be presented by two popular trainers, Glen Morris and Geoff Bragg.

COURSE CONTENT

The presentation will include descriptions of the following sections of the incoming Australian Standard, with explanation and participant feedback on the merits of the incoming rule changes. The following list is of course draft, as the standards process is yet to fully respond to public comments. 

  • Scope 
  • PV Maximum voltages
  • PV max voltage with DCUs
  • Manufacturer’s clamp zones
  • Disconnection Devices
  • Choice of disconnection devices
  • The Disconnection Point
  • When DC isolators are required at the array 
  • Wiring System Clauses x 4
  • DCIs on non-combustible material
  • No mention of micro-inverters
  • New signage requirements
  • Solar system layout “map” 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible to receive Continuous Professional Development points, learners must be CEC accredited designers or designer/ installers.

 

Required Units of Competency:

  • UEERE0011, UEERE0016, UEERE0022 (from 4/10/2020)
    or
  • UEENEEK125A, UEENEEK135A, UEENEEK148A 
    or
  • VU22123, VU22124, UEENEEK148A

HOW IT WILL WORK

Each session will require learners to take notes on a worksheet provided during the presentations. These worksheets will help you when you complete your online assessment task. You will need to complete this online assessment (with 85% accuracy) and feedback survey, to be eligible for 30 CORE CPD points. We estimate the online assessment task will take 20 minutes to complete. All attendees will receive an email following the session with instructions on how to access the online assessment task.

 

There will be lots of interaction with the learners, with question-and-answer time provided in each session, plus during the breaks.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Knowledge: Participants will gain a thorough overview of Australian Standard, AS/NZS 5033:2021

 

Comprehension: Learners will appreciate opportunities present in early adoption of the Standard once published, as new design and installation flexibilities and options will become available.

 

Analysis: The session will reinforce the need for deeper scrutiny of the published document to remain compliant. Participants will increase their opportunity to engage with the document early, prior to implementation.

 

Create: Participant solar installers and designers will be now able to prepare for significant changes in their design and installation processes, as the new standard comes into effect.
